From a young age, Ann has thought about her place in the universe and the meaning of life. In second grade she began exasperating her Catholic school teachers with her questions about religion. After moving to Crested Butte, Colorado in 1996, it was this interest in philosophy which led Ann to her first Iyengar yoga class with Gary Reitze. She immediately became a dedicated student, loving how calm yet energized she felt after class. She never thought she would or could be a yoga teacher, but years later when her teachers traveled to India to celebrate BKS Iyengar's 80th birthday she very reluctantly agreed to sub for them. To her surprise, Ann enjoyed teaching and she began the rigorous five year process to become certified in the Iyengar tradition. Her teaching style has been described as fun yet challenging in a friendly and respectful environment. Since then she has had the privilege of studying with the Iyengar family in India and she hopes to return many more times. She now lives in Chicago and studies regularly with Laurie Blakeney. Ann is grateful to B.K.S. Iyengar, his daughter Geeta, and his son Prashant for enriching her life and filling her with a sense of purpose.
